WELCOME LIGHTS
With the development of highly efficient LEDs and microlens arrays, cost-effective and energy-efficient systems that require very little installation space are now available on the market. This means that new comfort and safety lighting can be developed in the automotive sector.
One example of a lighting function in this category is vehicle entry lighting. This convenient lighting system makes it easier for passengers to get in and out of the vehicle by lighting the road on both sides of the vehicle.
Passengers can be warned of dangers when getting in and out of the vehicle by changing the pattern's shape and/or color.
Geometric Test
The technical solutions for projecting the light patterns is very demanding, because high-resolution and high-contrast patterns have to be projected from a small distance to a large area.
It is to be tested whether the light pattern meets the minimum and maximum size requirements depending on the mounting position. For this purpose, the coordinate system of the projection surface must be known in e.g. cm so that the size of the light pattern can also be measured in cm.
Luminance uniformity measurements
Photometric testing involves checking whether minimum or maximum values for luminance or illuminance are met. Different measurement regions are to be defined relative to the coordinate system. If necessary, requirements for the homogeneity of individual sub-areas of the light pattern can also be checked. In addition, it is possible to analyze the presence of ghost images.
Color measurements
A color image of the projection patterns allows the analysis of multicolor light patterns. Here, color gradients at edges in the light pattern are usually analyzed because color fringes can distort the desired light pattern and thus irritate the passenger.
Our Solution
In order to fulfill the measurement tasks described above, TechnoTeam has cameras with different image sizes, resolutions and lenses, so that customer-specific requirements and given laboratory dimensions can be met or taken into account. In addition, TechnoTeam supplies a software add-on that directly provides the luminous intensity and illuminance distribution.
