Our L³ standard sets the bar as a time-stable, ambient temperature-independent, and reliable standard for luminance, luminous flux, luminous intensity, and color.

The stability and independence from ambient temperature of the photometric quantities are achieved by temperature control with a Peltier device and an intensity control containing a spectrally matched photodiode. Where only pre-aged and selected high-power LEDs are used, which are operated at about 2/3 of their rated current. The light-emitting area of the L³ standard consists of a diffuser, providing excellent homogeneous luminance.

The lightweight, compact design and the adjustable light output by means of screw-on neutral density filters enable the L³ standard to be applied in a wide range of applications such as display calibration, LED manufacturing, or laboratory testing. Our in-house calibration ensures traceable and accurate reference value.

L3 standard

Features & Benefits

  • High stability of the luminance (< 1%/100 h)
  • Color Accuracy maintained: high stability of the dominant wavelength/color (< 1 nm/100 h)
  • Stable function: Operates reliable at ambient temperatures between 15°C and 30°C
  • Uniform Light Output: homogeneous luminance across the exit aperture (< 2% inhomogeneity)
  • Versatile color options: Delivered in standard colors (red, green, blue, yellow, orange, white).
  • Traceability & Calibration Credentials: Every L³ standard includes a DAkkS-accredited calibration certificate. Optional calibration possible at national metrology institutes such as PTB (Germany) or METAS (Switzerland).
  • Smart Monitoring & Diagnostics: USB interface allows reading of operational status: serial number, operating hours, temperature, etc.

Why Choose L³ standard?

When precision matters, the L³ standard delivers:

  • Consistent, certified performance that compensates for LED aging, delivering trustable results.
  • Minimal maintenance requirements, thanks to internal temperature control and stable components.
  • Traceability to national standards, making it suitable for high-regulation environments.
  • Flexibility in color choices and usage scenarios, from lab benches to industrial production lines.
